Absalom: In the Bible, Absalom is the third son of David, king of Israel. He is deemed the most beautiful man in the kingdom. Absalom was also the name of Stephen Kumalo's son in the Alan Paton novel Cry, the Beloved Country. Like the Absalom of yore, Absalom Kumalo was at odds with his father, the two fighting a moral and ethical battle of sorts over the course of some of the novel's most important events.
